Why does my product look like it has mould?Updated 4 hours ago

At Cutter & Squidge, we only use 100% natural colourings and flavourings—that means fruits, vegetables, and spices are used to flavour and colour our bakes, never artificial additives.

Because of this, some natural discolouration can occur in certain products. For example, a blue or green tinge may appear in sponges containing berries. This is due to a completely harmless natural chemical reaction between the berries and bicarbonate of soda—not mould.

Similarly, any green specks you see could be matcha (green tea) powder or green tea crumb, both of which are ingredients we use in some recipes and can be mistaken for mould at first glance.

We can absolutely assure you that these colour variations are normal and expected with natural ingredients. Your product is fresh, safe to eat, and made with the same care as always.
